I got pretty much everything put up on the new template. Still need to get the webcam and the archives, as well as the links. Everything else is pretty much all set. I'm trying to get Blogger to give us an option of moving that adbox to the bottom. Ruins the feng shui of the blog lol j/k. Also would be nice if they could add comments.

MISC. MUSINGS

I'm sitting at home on my first full day of Thanksgiving break. I've got TWO $500+ DV Cams sitting on my desk; one is not mine to use except to capture video, the other is a $900 piece of metal that has no power because of a misplaced AC adapter.

I'm rich because I got my allowance today and I got my $50 Amazon.com gift certificate from PalmSource =) I also got $5 in PayPal for taking another survey.

Chapel video has finished its editing stage. Now, I spent all day today trying to figure out a way to encode the darn movie. When I render as an MPEG (1 or 2), the video becomes out of sync with the audio. Allen wants it only in DivX, but Studio 8 doesn't do DivX. So I need to encode it as a different .avi. Radius encoding is hecka small and the quality is bad. Intel is really nice, but it's too big to fit on a CDR. I tried using Dr. DivX to encode that as a DivX, but I get dot crawl artifacts (technical term for small horizontal lines on moving video because of proper deinterlacing (technical term for something)). I'm trying a different program, hope it works, i'll probably be up all night.

PROJECT UPDATES

OKay, well, due to the absence of a source of power for my borrowed DVCam, project Alpha and Beta are indefinitely put on hold. A new project has arisen though. Over the break, I'll be editing a VCHS version of the popular TV show "While You Were Out." And with the minute amount of video I have to edit, it'll take me the entire break.

scott:
CRAP, my AIM account got broken into AGAIN! Alex, do you know how to track this guys IP address w/o sending an AIM just in case this guy has the balls to break into my account again!?

scott:
if i ever track this guy down, i'm going to hire you or someone else to create a trojan or some sort that will permenantly disable his computer...

schoolflower:
huh who would hack into your account scott.. just some random person?

scott:
oh, and I have no clue, but he ain't coming back, I happened to see him online using my other SN! I told him to leave or get reported!

WANTED - ASAP!!!

My mom finally picked up my uncle's DV cam today. Problem is he can't find the AC adapter or the battery charger, so my mom basically brought home a $900 piece of metal. Therefore I need to get my hands on a charger for Panasonic camcorders (spec. PV-DV200). My dad says no to buying one, so that's why I desperately need one!!!

If anyone can lend me a charger, i'd greatly appreciate it! (and i mean GREATLY appreciate it!)

HACKED, part 2

Today I found again that my screen name was signed on in 2 locations. Luckily, first of all, my AIM password was different from my AOL password, so they didn't get into my AOL account (last time they tried to retrieve an AOL Games password). Second, they were online when I signed on my other Screen Name, BeamMeUp6, so I IM'd them and told them to get the heck off my screen name before I report them. They signed off, and that was that. I did wish that I had tracked their IP address. Then I could report them with evidence to AOl or at least give my friend their IP so he could send a trojan through their network and totally kill their computer. But that didn't happen. Shame that's how it went, but oh well. Maybe I'll try again.

UPCOMING PROJECTS

I've gotten bored just sitting here at my computer wondering what to do (after studying and piano that is). I've decided and have been assigned to work on a few projects...

Project "ALPHA" - CMBC promotional/informational video. I started taking a look a few church's videos and got a few good ideas. This project will take a few months. Currently in pre-production

Project "BETA" - SOS informational/promotional video. Same concept as CMBC, only more contemporary for youth

Project "GAMMA" - Personal website. Currently designing site navigation and content. Temporary splash page is up @ http://free.hostdepartment.com/s/scottietales

Hopefully once these projects go underway, I can establish myself as a freelance technology consultant and media producer.

THE BACHELOR

Over the past few weeks, I've been noticing something quite interesting. My friends are attending a lot more of the social events that schools have and some even are "going out" with someone(whether they admit it or not).

Take my friend Jeff for example. The past years, at least in elem. school, he was one of those quiet guys who got good grades and that was it. Last year, he went to prom with someone. NOW, he's going to homecoming, first to Foothill's with some unknown stranger that he doesn't take about, and then I see him running down the hall trying to look for Mr. Meeker to sign a GUEST PASS for Valley's homecoming!

I found out that another one of my friends, Nel, went to Cal High's homecoming. That was a first. He claims he didn't ask out someone to the homecoming etc. but i know better. i'll ask one of my cal high connections about it when i get the chance...

i got a bunch of other friends that went too, even Burris...hmm.... and alex...that's enough about him, read his blog to find out about him. and matt, and krista...

It's not that I'm jealous or anything, it's just interesting to see how everyone's changed. It's...like...weird...*shudder

GOOD TIMES

So far, this has been a really good week. First, I make two online purchases on Sunday, and both are already in the Bay Area! I hope both come today, well, at least one will. Second, I GOT MY BRACES OFF YESTERDAY!!! WOOHOO!!! =) Third, I had little homework so far. Although being that it's only Wednesday, that'll probably change say, oh, TODAY! But haven't had such a thing as a perfectly good week in my life since vacation, and that's the only time it'll happen. Oh well, enjoy the moment while it's here.

I HAVE A FEELING WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE, TOTO

I love shipment tracking. It's such a great innovation. As of now, I found out that a direct box I ordered is in Kansas, on it's way to the Bay Area and i guess my power supply is somewhere between here and So. Cal, where it originated. It'll be interesting to see which one makes it first; my DI box was shipped 3-day select UPS all the way from Kansas. My PS was shipped from Fontana, CA, but by UPS ground. MAY THE RACE BEGIN! Either way, if the weather holds, I expect both to reach my home by the end of the week. I'll be needing both of them quite soon!

UPDATED:
I almost forgot. Starting now and when I get my computer running again, my emancipation from Windows begins. I start with OpenOffice.org. It's an open source MS Office-type suite that has everything Office has and more. You can convert your presentations to .swf files and your documents to .pdf files. What's more: it's FREE! No annyoying paperclip, no license worries. No microsoft. Linux friendly!!! Think smart, switch of OpenOffice.org.

2 1/2 DAYS

My weekend is getting better, slowly. I confirmed that it was indeed my power supply that was causing me all this pain. I immediately purchased a new one off the net. Antec TruePower 480W. Hopefully will work okay. Also, the editor at PalmSource finally finished the comments on my expert guide. Being that I was so happy (and also that there were just a few needed changes), I immediately revised and sent that back. So scheduled this week is the delivery of my power supply and the upload of my Expert Guide. May the next twenty-four hours go as well as these last ones have!
